Trials, temptations, disappointments -- all these are helps instead of hindrances, if one uses them rightly. They not only test the fiber of character but strengthen it. Every conquering temptation represents a new fund of moral energy. Every trial endured and weathered in the right spirit makes a soul nobler and stronger than it was before.
Trials & tribulations come in many forms. The effect they have on us
is strictly determined by our perception of them.
Our attitude determines whether they will create promise or destitution.
If we wallow in self pity, crying out in frustration. Why me?
Then we have set ourselves up for pain & continued misery.
If on the other hand, we declare yes! This is the challenge I have
been waiting for, this is the fiery furnace that will burn the dross
from my character purifying me so that I can be the best me
possible, then we have chosen the path towards victory.
It often seems that life consists of one challenge after another, it is
all to easy to allow ourselves to fall prey to weariness, discontent,
& irritability both with ourselves & the world.
I once heard a man say that:
“if our greatest challenge is to decide what type of toothpaste to buy,
then that is how much God sees us capable of handling at the time,
if our challenges are great then that likewise is indicative of
what God has planned for us.”
It is self evident that one cannot climb
has difficulty crossing over an ant hill.
We are being molded & shaped, the life storms we face are
preparing us for work yet to be done.
